Botad district was established by the then Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi on September 23, 2012. Botad district is formed by separating two talukas from Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar districts. In this Botad, two talukas of Bhavnagar district Gadha and Botad as well as two talukas of Ahmedabad district Barwala and Ranpur taluka were included in Botad district.

- As the part connecting Kathiawar, Gohilwad, Jhalawar region is Botad district, it is called ‘Gate – Way of Kathiawar’ i.e. ‘Gateway of Saurashtra’. The district is divided into 2 revenue sub-divisions and 4 talukas. Talukas of Botad District:
- There are total 4 talukas in Botad district. Ranpur and Barwala from Ahmedabad as well as Gadha and Botad from Bhavnagar.
Features of Botad District : –
- Geographically, Botad district borders Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Rajkot districts.

- The total number of talukas in Botad district is 04 but based on their characteristics, important matters of some talukas are recorded here, which are as follows.

- Botad district is considered to be the karma bhoomi of our national shire Zaverchand Meghani.
Gadhada : –
- Gadhada is considered to be the pilgrimage place of Swaminarayan sect as it is the original place of Lord Swaminarayan. Here Swaminarayan preached while sitting on Dada Khachar’s drum.
- This fort is located on the banks of the river Ghelo.

- The famous Hanumanji temple is located in Botad district.
- The temple of Bhimnath Mahadev is located on the banks of Nilka river.
- Nutangram University in Botad district – located in Gadhada.
- Botad comes in third place in guava cultivation.
- Ranpur is located on the banks of Sukbhadar river.
- Gadhada Ghelo is located on the banks of the river.
- Variyadevi, Visaman Bapu’s place, Krishnasagar lake, Sant Rohidas temple etc. are some of the places worth seeing.
